A Gift With Tax Advantages

Gifts of appreciated securities, or stock, are another way you can help us meet Mount Sinai South Nassau’s mission. And this method of giving provides you with several tax advantages:

• Ability to deduct the full fair market value of securities if held for 12 months or longer
  
• Avoid paying capital gains tax
  
• Carry forward any unused deduction for up to five additional tax years
  
• Save on estate taxes, since the gift reduces the assets subject to an estate tax

We’ll be happy to help you make gifts of appreciated securities and collect important information that we’ll need, including the name and type of securities you’re giving, the number of shares and the date you intend to make a gift.
