Meet Charles
“They called me their ‘miracle patient,’ but Mount Sinai South Nassau saved my life.”
NAME: Charles B.
AGE: 73
HOMETOWN: Lynbrook
CONDITION: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Meet Charles B., 73, of Lynbrook, NY
In July 2014, I collapsed
and was rushed to Mount Sinai South Nassau’s emergency room. While in the ER, my wife was informed that I needed emergency surgery to repair a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. I was bleeding internally and was given a 5 percent chance of survival.
I spent four months in rehabilitation. I’ve had a few setbacks since then and it’s been a long recovery process, but I’m getting stronger every day. Mount Sinai South Nassau’s vascular team is fantastic.
The surgeons and nurses tell me I’m their miracle patient, but if it wasn’t for their experience, teamwork and quick decisions, I wouldn’t be alive today.
