Celebrating South Nassau’s Volunteers

Each spring, South Nassau Administrators and members of the Board of Directors salute our volunteers for their tireless support and service.  In 2017, nearly 400 volunteers contributed 44,000 hours in over 60 areas of the hospital, serving patients, family members, visitors, and staff.

Areas that benefited from Volunteer activities included: Greeters escorting patient/family members, Messenger Desk, Admitting, Human Resources, Medical Staffing, Nursing Education, Employee Health Services, Wound Care, Community Education and satellite offices.  Patient Care Units received significant assistance and patients were comforted by Volunteers, as well as the Pet and Music therapy programs.

The 2018 theme, “Volunteers Are the Heart of Our Team”, highlights the service and support volunteers provide.  This theme underpins the hospital’s mission of providing health care services in a manner which reflects a culture of excellence and personalized cultural competent care.
