At Mount Sinai South Nassau, we’re equipped to manage injuries and illnesses that range from minor to life-threatening. Our physicians and emergency care clinicians are specially trained to provide fast, expert care.

Our emergency room physicians are board-certified and residency-trained in the specialized field of emergency medicine. And our nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants all have special training in emergency care, as well.

With this dedicated team, we offer a broad range of important, specialized emergency services to our communities, including:

Level II Trauma Center, equipped with the advanced medical technology and skilled specialists required to perform emergency trauma procedures
Cardiac care, including the only hospital on the South Shore offering lifesaving acute angioplasty to widen blocked veins of heart attack patients
Designation as a Stroke Center (by the New York State Department of Health) for the rapid assessment and advanced therapies and procedures our team provides stroke patients
Respiratory and pulmonary (lung and breathing) emergency procedures
Pediatric (children) emergency procedures
Psychiatric, or mental health, emergency procedures

Innovation and Dedication

To reduce emergency room wait times, we have created a special unit dedicated to treat minor conditions such as cuts or abrasions, broken bones, fevers, flu and other illnesses. And, we’ve invested in advanced technology that saves valuable time by giving physicians quick access to results of our patients’ MRI and CT scans.

The Department’s main entrance for drive-up or walk-in patients has moved from Washington Avenue to the east side of Oceanside Road south of Oswald Court and north of Nassau Parkway while the entrance for ambulances remains on Nassau Parkway.
