Professional Development
At Mount Sinai South Nassau, we take your nursing career as seriously as you do.
The Department of Nursing Education at Mount Sinai South Nassau provides professional development and educational support for all nursing staff as well as other clinical departments/personnel in the hospital.
All nurses attend a comprehensive two-week centralized orientation. We follow this with a comprehensive unit-based orientation in which nurses new to the organization work with a preceptor. Nurse Educators are assigned to all services, and as part of their role, they coordinate all orientation and staff development initiatives in conjunction with preceptors and nursing leadership.
All new graduate nurses participate in a year-long Nurse Residency Program (NRP) which supports their transition to practice. In addition, we offer several nurse fellowship programs in specialty units.
Continuing education/staff development programs are ongoing to support the professional growth and development of our staff.
