Helping Families Prepare for a Newborn — Before and After Birth

The staff of Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Maternity Services knows that education is an important part of caring for your newborn. And we have developed programs such as breastfeeding support to help you before you even leave the hospital.

Whether this is your first child or part of a growing family, we have prepared a range of classes and support to help everyone involved with your newborn — right here in the community you call home.

Mount Sinai South Nassau's Lactation Resource Center

The innumerable benefits of breastfeeding are now well-recognized; thus, Mount Sinai South Nassau has a Lactation Resource Center. We are dedicated to supporting you and your newborn by providing breastfeeding education, assistance, and support. We are staffed by a professional team of experts who are certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). And we can help you before, during and after your hospital stay.

In-Person Newborn Baby Care Class

Hello, and congratulations on choosing to educate yourself in preparation for your little one's birth!

We recommend beginning our classes from your 20th week of pregnancy, but we warmly welcome anyone eager to start earlier!

Topics Covered: Traits & Behaviors, Crying & Comforting, Feeding & Diapering, Bathing, Nail Care & Dressing, Health & Safety, and Additional Resources

This class is recommended to take BEFORE your birth. It is also suggested that you attend with someone, perhaps your birthing partner, who will support you on this journey. Class is only one session/date.

Investment: $60 per couple for 2.5 hours of in-person, live instruction.
