Biography

Gylynthia Trotman, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Trotman serves as Director of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology for the Mount Sinai Health System, where she specializes in diagnosing and treating patients from infancy through young adulthood with a wide range of medical and surgical gynecologic problems.

Dr. Trotman completed her residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, followed by a Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology fellowship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center/Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. Prior to returning to Mount Sinai to establish a Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Dr. Trotman served as a faculty member within Boston Children’s Health Physicians/Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Westchester, New York and in the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

While at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Dr. Trotman worked collaboratively with other pediatric subspecialists, helped to develop a number of quality improvement initiatives, played an integral role in the development of the Transgender Care Interdisciplinary Program, Young Women with Bleeding Disorders Clinic, and contributed to the Comprehensive Fertility Care and Preservation Program. In addition, she was the Director of Resident and Medical Student Education, sat on the scholarly oversight committee for the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Fellowship training program and served as mentor for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship. Dr. Trotman has a passion for medical education and continues to provide mentorship for a diverse group of medical students, residents and fellows.

Dr. Trotman has received numerous awards during her career and was inducted into the honor societies for both medicine and public health, Alpha Omega Alpha and Delta Omega respectively. She is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is actively involved in the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG). Within NASPAG she was a founding member and former chair of the fellows research consortium and currently sits as co-chair of the research committee. Dr. Trotman has published and lectured extensively both on the national and regional levels on complex reproductive issues among the pediatric and adolescent population. She is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care, optimizing the patient and family experience, and providing education and advocacy for a diverse population of girls and young women.

Dr. Trotman currently cares for patients at Mount Sinai Doctors Faculty Practice at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai West, and at The Mount Sinai Hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Ambulatory Clinic E-level and the Adolescent Health Center.
