Podiatry Residency

Podiatry Residency

Thank you for your interest in our CPME - accredited Podiatry Residency Program at Mount Sinai South Nassau.

We are located on the beautiful south shore of Long Island, just minutes away from tranquil beaches and an easy commute to the excitement of NYC.

The department of Podiatry is committed to providing the best possible educational environment for our residents while delivering the highest quality of care for our patients.

The department of Podiatry is a branch of the Orthopedics department at South Nassau, and we work closely with podiatric surgeons, orthopedic surgeons and orthopedic physicians’ assistants in the management of lower extremity pathology. The program is designed to fully prepare the resident to for board qualification, and to become proficient with surgical and medical management of foot and ankle trauma, infection and deformity. Along with ample podiatric clinical hours, residents are exposed to a cutting-edge wound care center using the most modern techniques for closing wounds of the foot and ankle. The resident can expect to acquire the knowledge and technical skills necessary to become a proficient in all aspects of podiatric surgery and medicine.

There are many opportunities for academic study, with attending physicians who encourage publication of case reports, posters, and higher tier research. This coincides with our mission of training knowledgeable and capable podiatric surgeons ready to practice quality medicine for patients in their communities.

Mount Sinai South Nassau is a tertiary care community based hospital which provides academic center clinical care services. As a resident, you will fully benefit from the intimate and collegial environment while gaining exposure to cutting edge medicine.

Education
Residents in the Mount Sinai South Nassau residency program can expect to have weekly didactic discussions with attending doctors following a mandatory educational lecture. Journal Club is regularly scheduled, and residents are expected to be well-read in the assigned readings and participate in discussion. Opportunities to participate in cadaver workshops are regularly provided to the residents, along with annual conferences in Teaneck, New Jersey and New York City.
