Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency
Thank you for your interest in our ACGME - accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at South Nassau Communities Hospital.
We are located on the beautiful south shore of Long Island, just minutes away from tranquil beaches and an easy commute to the excitement of NYC.
The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is committed to providing the best possible educational environment for our residents while delivering the highest quality of care for our patients.
The residency program is designed to offer broad clinical training in both general obstetrics and gynecology and its subspecialties. Our full time and voluntary faculty members are passionate about education. In addition, our robust subspecialty divisions (FMPRS, GYN ONC, MFM, REI) provide residents with an unparalleled scope, breadth and depth of clinical experience. In addition to the core OB/GYN services, residents will also gain experience in other specialty areas including radiology, ICU, family medicine and anesthesia. All rotations are at South Nassau Hospital.
South Nassau is a tertiary care community based hospital which provides academic center clinical care services. As a resident, you will fully benefit from the intimate and collegial environment while gaining exposure to cutting edge medicine.
Our mission is to train caring, compassionate and competent physicians who will provide quality care to patients whether it is in a small community or large academic center.
In addition to hands on clinical experience, residents have protected didactic time each week which includes attending supervised resident lectures, Grand Rounds, tumor / pathology board, journal club and interdepartmental conferences. Each resident is required to complete an independent research project prior to completion of their training.
Members of our faculty have affiliations with larger academic institutions including Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, opening up multiple opportunities for clinical and scientific research and collaboration.
We participate in ERAS. All applications received will be reviewed and the decision to extend an interview invitation will be based on several factors including a commitment to the field, USMLE Scores (passing scores required), medical school transcript, letters of recommendation and research activities.
