Mount Sinai South Nassau Earns Nine U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals ‘High Performing’ Ratings in 2026
Recognized for Diabetes, Hip Fracture, Kidney Failure, Pneumonia, Colon Surgery, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pacemaker Implantation; Maintains Maternity ‘High Performing’ Rating

Mount Sinai South Nassau has earned nine U.S. News & World Report “High Performing” ratings for procedures and conditions including:
- Colon cancer surgery (second consecutive year)
- Diabetes (second consecutive year)
- Heart attack (third consecutive year)
- Heart failure (third consecutive year)
- Hip fracture (second consecutive year)
- Kidney failure (third consecutive year)
- Pacemaker implantation (first year)
- Pneumonia (third consecutive year)
The hospital was also awarded a High Performing rating in the 2025-2026 “Best Hospitals for Maternity Care,” which was released in December. Pacemaker implantation (placing a small electronic device under the skin to help regulate slow or abnormal heart rhythms.) is a new recognition for Mount Sinai South Nassau.
U.S. News’ annual Procedures and Conditions ratings are designed to help patients and their health care providers make informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures. Mount Sinai South Nassau is one of just 415 of the 4,495 hospitals evaluated by U.S. News to earn nine High Performing awards, including Maternity Care.

U.S. News evaluated hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures, such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings and Procedures and Conditions ratings measure patient outcomes using data from more than 800 million records of patient care.
Earlier this year, Mount Sinai South Nassau earned a Leapfrog “A” award for patient safety and a Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades.
Mount Sinai South Nassau is nearing the completion of a major expansion to meet the rising need for acute, emergency, critical and ambulatory care services. This fall, it will bring online five of nine new operating rooms, where surgeons and their teams will use modern medical technologies, such as robotic surgical assistants and three-dimensional image-guided surgical systems, to perform minimally invasive and more advanced procedures. Located on the second floor of the hospital’s new $150 million, four-story, 100,000-square-foot Feil Family Pavilion, the new operating rooms include five general-use rooms, two rooms for open-heart surgery, and two hybrid operating rooms for advanced neurological cases that will feature advanced imaging systems. In addition to the new operating rooms, the Pavilion includes the expanded and completely renovated Fennessy Family Emergency Department and 40 new intensive and critical care beds to meet the region’s rising need for critical care services.
Later this year, the new, larger operating rooms will allow the hospital to begin an open-heart program, bringing skilled surgeons from the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart program in Manhattan to its Oceanside campus to perform open-heart and other advanced cardiac procedures.
