Rockville Centre Mayor to be Honored at South Nassau’s 30th Annual Golf Outing

Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray has been designated the honoree of South Nassau Communities Hospital’s 30th Annual Golf Outing to be held Monday, June 16, at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor and Inwood Country Club in Inwood. The event’s proceeds will support the expansion of South Nassau’s Emergency Services Department.

“Mayor Murray and his family have been long-time, loyal supporters of South Nassau’s mission to provide high-quality healthcare services to the residents of Rockville Centre and the South Shore communities,” said South Nassau’s president and CEO, Richard J. Murphy. “We are thankful for his commitment to our mission and for his discerning and courageous leadership on behalf of the residents and business community of Rockville Centre.”

Mayor Murray, a lifelong Rockville Centre resident, has been an active member of the Rockville Centre Fire Department since 1972, including serving as an EMT. He was a co-chair of the Village’s Environmental and Beautification Committee; Vice President of the RVC Conservancy; a board member of the Friends of Senior Services, Inc. (FOSSI); and a co-chair of the Community Fund Golf Outing. He is president of FX Murray Maintenance and a member of the RVC Chamber of Commerce.

Golfers who participate in the 30th South Nassau outing will compete for low gross score, low net score, nearest to the pin, longest drive, most accurate drive, and hole-in-one prizes. The afternoon of golf will be followed by an evening of fine dining, camaraderie, and fun, including a lavish buffet and raffle prizes ranging from tickets to professional sporting events to foursomes at the area’s most prestigious courses. South Nassau’s Emergency Services Department is the busiest community hospital emergency room in Nassau County, realizing an 8.5 percent increase in patient visits in 2013. Praised for its efficiency and responsiveness to the needs of patients, the department’s staff includes board-certified, residency-trained emergency medicine physicians as well as nurses and physicians' assistants who have been specially-trained in emergency medical care.

The department is designated a regional Stroke Center by the New York State Department of Health and is southern Nassau County’s only Trauma Level II Center. The department has over 35 large independent treatment bays and specialty areas, including Pediatrics and Behavioral Health, as well as its own dedicated Computerized Radiology Suite sfor rapid access for testing and results.
