Dr. Linda Efferen Named to Becker’s Prestigious List of Women Hospital & Healthcare Leaders to Know

Posted: Feb. 2, 2015

For the fifth consecutive year, Becker's Hospital Review has named Linda Efferen, MD, chief medical officer at South Nassau Communities Hospital, to its prestigious list of the "130 Women Hospital and Healthcare Leaders to Know" in the United States.

Members of the list demonstrate outstanding leadership within the hospital and healthcare industry and were chosen based on a wide range of management and leadership skills, including oversight of hospital or health system operations, financial turnarounds and quality improvement initiatives. Members do not and cannot pay to be included on the list. Each featured woman was lauded by her colleagues for contributing significant value to the healthcare industry.

To create the list, the editorial team at Becker's Hospital Review accepted nominations for the most influential women in healthcare through its website and weekly online newsletters. After several months of collecting nominations and researching the background of each nominee, the editorial team narrowed the contenders to a list of 130 top women leaders. The publication repeats this process annually to ensure an up-to-date compendium. Becker's Hospital Review is a Chicago-based publication focusing on hospital and healthcare news and business advice. The primary audience for the publication is hospital executives and healthcare industry leaders.

As South Nassau’s chief medical officer, Dr. Efferen (a resident of South Huntington) is responsible for facilitating medical staff interactions with hospital administration and the governing board and for assuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the hospital’s mission. She also assists with strategic planning and execution, as well as the implementation of disease management programs, and monitors the effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators.

“The Becker’s award is one more indication of Dr. Efferen’s outstanding leadership abilities,” said Richard Murphy, SNCH President & CEO. “We are delighted that Dr. Efferen continues each day to work to improve the quality of care we provide to the residents on the South Shore of Long Island and that her efforts have gained national recognition once again.”
