Trauma Committee

The Mount Sinai South Nassau Trauma Center is designated a Level II Trauma Center by the state of New York and is nationally verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. This means that our Trauma Program meets the highest achievable standards for trauma care. The Division of Trauma at Mount Sinai South Nassau handles close to 2,000 acute traumas annually, and is the only trauma center located on the South Shore of Nassau County. Our multidisciplinary team is engaged not only in clinical care but in the education and training of future surgeons through our accredited surgical residency program and research.

Surgical Critical Care

Surgical Critical Care manages all critically ill surgical patients through its critical care services (Surgical Intensive Care Unit or STICU). These clinical services are performed by a dedicated group of surgeons who provide around-the-clock, in-house coverage, 365 days a year. These surgeons have advanced training in the care and management of the critically ill or injured patient.
