Biography
Dr. Rohit Ranganath is a board certified surgeon specializing in endocrine and head and neck surgery, with focused expertise in thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disorders, as well as complex head and neck tumors. His practice encompasses both benign and malignant disease, with an emphasis on precise, minimally invasive, and patient-centered care.
Drawing on training across otolaryngology, head and neck oncology, and general surgery, Dr. Ranganath brings a comprehensive perspective to endocrine surgery. He completed advanced fellowship training in Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he refined his expertise in complex thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal procedures.
In addition to endocrine and head and neck surgery, Dr. Ranganath performs robotic and minimally invasive procedures including hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, and INSPIRE hypoglossal nerve stimulator implantation for obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Ranganath earned his medical degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and completed his general surgery residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the American Head and Neck Society, and the American Thyroid Association.
He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and is deeply involved in surgical resident education at Mount Sinai South Nassau, where he has been recognized for excellence in teaching.
A hallmark of Dr. Ranganath's practice is efficiency without compromise. In many cases, patients can complete a comprehensive evaluation — including ultrasound, laryngoscopy, and ultrasound-guided biopsy — in a single visit, enabling faster diagnosis and clearer treatment planning.
I believe patients deserve clarity and confidence when facing complex diagnoses. My goal is to combine technical precision with thoughtful guidance, so each patient understands their options and feels supported throughout their care.
