Nursing Awards

Across all settings of care at Mount Sinai South Nassau, nurses are an integral part of our health care team. To recognize nursing’s unconditional commitment and contributions to patient care, we have established an annual internal awards program that honors nurses at all levels, serving in a variety of professional nursing roles.

Janice Campbell RN, LCCE, IBCLC
Janice’s exemplary professional practice is evident in her partnership with patients, families, interprofessional teams and the community at large. Her empowerment of the entire team inspires them to provide effective care that leads to high-quality patient outcomes. She is a remarkable nurse who collaborates with the health care team to ensure a patient-centered approach to care delivery. The interprofessional relationships she has built ensure continuity of care transcending the walls of our organization and extending to mothers and infants on a national level. Janice was instrumental in leading our team to achieve Baby Friendly designation by embracing best practices to support breast feeding. She worked tirelessly to educate staff and patients on practices that ensure safe care. She is an advocate for underserved populations in our community and focuses on individualizing care. Janice’s programs provide education, garner resources, and enable our staff to meet the unique needs of each patient. Her commitment to quality and safety, along with her experience, advocacy and influence were instrumental in our organization’s achievement of Joint Commission Perinatal Certification
