Helping Families Prepare for a Newborn — Before and After Birth
The staff of Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Maternity Services knows that education is an important part of caring for your newborn. And we have developed programs such as breastfeeding support to help you before you even leave the hospital.
Whether this is your first child or part of a growing family, we have prepared a range of classes and support to help everyone involved with your newborn — right here in the community you call home.
For further information about the classes, please call our Perinatal Educator, Debi Tracy at (516) 377-5310 or email her at Debi.Tracy@snch.org.

Emotional Support and Education After Your Child Is Born
If you feel moody, sad, or anxious before or after the birth of your child, you are not alone. These feelings can be a natural part of your body’s response to childbirth. But there’s help to get you past these feelings, and it is free. As part of the broad base of maternity services at Mount Sinai South Nassau, our staff is proud to offer our Post-Partum Support Group, a support group for mothers experiencing sadness, isolation, fear, anxiety or depression during and/or after pregnancy.
This is a free, self-help/psychoeducational online group. Each week, we provide emotional support, education, and coping tools to empower women and their families when pregnancy-related changes in mood and/or anxiety exist.
Leading the group are experienced, compassionate, caring maternal-child nurses. Contact Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Post-Partum Support Group at (516) 377-5310 or register here.
