Effie Tsomos, MD, Chief, Endocrinology
Dr. Effie Tsomos is board certified in Internal Medicine and specializes in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. She completed an Endocrine fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York

Jason Esses, MD
Dr. Esses is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Internal Medicine. He is also a board certified Clinical Lipidologist, which encompasses cholesterol management, cardiovascular risk assessment and intervention. He obtained his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, NY. Dr. Esses completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY and his fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Rashmi Advani, MD, ABOM-D, Bariatric Endoscopist
Dr. Rashmi Advani is an Interventional and Bariatric Endoscopist who specializes in the endoscopic management of obesity and pancreaticobiliary diseases. Dr. Advani is the Director of Bariatric Endoscopy at Mount Sinai’s Center for Interventional Endoscopy and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Advani is triple board-certified in Gastroenterology, Obesity Medicine, and Internal Medicine. Dr. Advani obtained her medical degree at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY and completed internal medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. Dr. Advani completed general gastroenterology training at Stony Brook Hospital in NY and interventional gastroenterology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Advani is passionate about improving physical/mental wellness and creating equal access to care for her patients. She contributes to efforts that improve medical education, promote gender equity in medicine, and advance research in Gastroenterology. Her work is well-recognized and is published online and on her various social media platforms that are geared to provide easy access to evidence-based information on gastroenterological diseases. Dr. Advani also is a source for career mentorship to trainees at her local institutions and to hundreds of premedical and medical students across the country. Dr. Advani is published in peer-reviewed journals and has authored numerous manuscripts (original, abstracts, book chapters). She serves on various committees and leadership roles for gastroenterological organizations such as American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), Scrubs and Heels, and Women in Endoscopy (WIE).

Charles E. Thompson III, MD, Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Charles Thompson has practiced Bariatric Surgery since 2013 and joined Mount Sinai as a Bariatric Surgeon in 2022. After completing his undergraduate studies at Morehouse College, Dr. Thompson earned his medical degree from Howard University. He then completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Howard, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. To finish his training, Dr. Thompson moved to Cleveland Clinic Florida for his fellowship in Bariatrics & Minimally Invasive Surgery. With his board certification by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Thompson's interests include treatment of obesity and studying the disparity in health outcomes in the bariatric community.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Thompson is part of the core faculty of the Mount Sinai South Nassau General Surgery Residency Program. He is also a Board Member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Foundation and holds fellowship status in the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Under the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Thompson also serves as an EPA Champion/Liaison.

Judy Summers, PA-C, Director of Bariatric Services
Judy began her 20 years+ career in bariatrics providing clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient setting and as a first assist in the operating room. Her passion in working with the bariatric patients continues as a bariatric director, overseeing program development and obtaining bariatric program accreditation.

Alison Singer, Bariatric Program Manager
With 15 years of experience in Bariatric surgery, Alison has guided patients through their weight loss journey pre-- and post operatively. She also facilitates the support group and loves to help our bariatric patients succeed.

As a Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, and Bariatric Dietitian, Danielle has helped thousands of patients reach their weight and wellness goals through dietary and lifestyle changes. She teaches simple strategies for long term weight loss success.
