Orthopedics & Sports Medicine

Two months of orthopedics and sports medicine are required of all residents. One month is spent in the first year, and another month in the third year. During this time, the resident works with the orthopedist in his office, but also works with the physical therapist and physiatrist in the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy (SMART) Center.

Residents participate in the cardiac rehab program and in addition to sports injury management and prevention, the residents perform preparticipation sports physicals. Residents also have the opportunity to work at the Sports Medicine Clinic held every other week at the Family Medicine Center.
