South Nassau is one of five hospitals on Long Island to be named a Top Performer by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations. This designation is given to hospitals that follow best practices for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. 

 

South Nassau was recognized as a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. We’re one of just six hospitals on Long Island to hold this national distinction for nursing excellence.

Baby-Friendly Hospital

 
South Nassau is the only hospital on Nassau’s South Shore to be named ‘Baby-Friendly™’ by the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

South Nassau has been named on Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2015 annual “100 Hospitals with Great Women's Health Programs” list. We’re one of two hospitals on Long Island to be recognized for offering outstanding health services geared toward women.

 

South Nassau has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ Certification in seven specialties: Heart Failure, Primary Stroke Center, Joint Replacement Hip, Joint Replacement Knee, Bariatric Surgery, Wound Care and End-Stage Renal Disease.

South Nassau’s cancer program has earned the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer’s Outstanding Achievement Award for three consecutive (three-year) survey cycles (2009, 2012, 2015).

 

South Nassau has received the American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. Ranked as a Target: Stroke Honor Roll-Elite hospital and the only Stroke Center on the South Shore, providing high-quality care.

Becker’s Hospital Review recently named South Nassau the only Long Island-based hospital to its 2015 listing of “100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs.”

For the 10th year in a row, South Nassau’s home health program has been named to the HomeCare Elite™ list of 500 top-performing home health agencies in the country.
