Joseph A. Quagliata
President and CEO
Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 1998 after more than 25 years of service at South Nassau Communities Hospital, Mr. Quagliata’s leadership and vision has broadened our services and enabled the hospital to forge new directions and respond effectively to the changing health care needs of this community with new services, medical advancements and technologies. During his tenure, the hospital has expanded our specialized outpatient services throughout the south shore of Nassau County and also established new programs and facilities including: a Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Family Medicine Center, Primary Care Center, Sports Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation Facility, Outpatient Dialysis Center, Wound Care Center, Center for Weight & Life Management, World Trade Center counseling program, and most recently, a Center for Cardiovascular Health. |

Joe Lamantia
Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President of Administration
Mr. Lamantia oversees the efficient operation of the hospital, including management of the hospital's profit and loss statement and attainment of budget goals. In addition, he has day-to-day oversight of South Nassau's finance, facilities management and health care service lines. Prior to coming to South Nassau, Mr. Lamantia served as the executive director of Franklin Hospital Medical Center. He holds a bachelor's degree in health science from S.U.N.Y. Cortland and a master's degree in health administration from Hofstra University. |

Jerry Haas
Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, Finance
Responsible for the overall financial management of the institution, Mr. Haas manages the financial reporting and related internal controls and directs the financial planning related to growth, financing and associated issues. He also coordinates all relationships with auditors, third party reimbursers, managed care companies, investment bankers and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) as well as hires, develops and mentors finance department talent for seamless succession of finance department responsibilities. |

Linda Efferen, M.D., FACP, FCCP, FCCM
Chief Medical Officer, Senior Vice President
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Efferen provides a collegial interface with the medical staff physicians, overseeing the day-to-day medical operations with direct oversight of physician credentialing and professionalism. Dr. Efferen ensures South Nassau's mission and vision in maintaining superlative care to the communities it serves by focusing its operations on specific measurable and transparent goals driving clinical excellence. Dr. Efferen is a graduate of Fordham University and of Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Efferen was most recently the Associate Chair of the Department of Medicine at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park. |

Sue Penque, PhD, RN, CNP
Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Patient Care Services
Dr. Penque is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivery of quality nursing care to patients in the hospital and ensuring that the same superior standards are met throughout our organization, wherever nursing care is delivered. Areas of responsibility include Perioperative Services including Endoscopy, Emergency Services, Cardiac Services, including the Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Labs, Dialysis Services, including the Outpatient Dialysis Center, and all inpatients units. She holds degrees from CW Post College and Adelphi University, certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner from College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN, and her PhD in Nursing from the University of Minnesota. She is the recipient of many honors and awards for her work in the field of nursing, and has also authored a number of medical publications and research papers for the advancement of nursing and patient safety. |

Mark Bogen
Vice President, Finance
As Vice President of Finance, Mr. Bogen is responsible for the coordination, supervision and direction of all day-to-day financial operations within the Hospital. He also assists in the planning and management of hospital-wide business plans. Mr. Bogen has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare financial operations and is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Healthcare Compliance Association. |

Sheila D’Nodal, MD
Vice President, Ambulatory Services, Chief Diversity Officer
Dr. D’Nodal serves as the medical director of the South Nassau Primary Care Center as well as the Vice President of Ambulatory Services. As such, she is responsible for physician practices including the Primary Care Center, Center for Weight and Life Management, Sleep Center and Family Practice Center as well as our leading-edge outpatient care programs including the Wound Care Center® and SMART Center for physical rehabilitation and sports medicine. Additionally, Dr. D’Nodal directs a variety of patient- and community-oriented services with responsibility for our physician and laboratory services, patient advocacy and community education programs, while also chairing our Cultural Initiatives committee. |

Paul D. Giordano
Vice President, Human Resources
As head of the Human Resources Department, Mr. Giordano is responsible for all recruitment and retention activities, employee relations and employee benefit and recognition programs. |

Mark Head
Vice President, External Affairs
Mr. Head oversees the Hospital's External Affairs department and the strategic planning and execution of the Hospital's marketing efforts. He also directs the Communications, Public Relations and Community Relations areas to bring the Hospital's message to the physicians and communities of Nassau's South Shore. He has practiced marketing management, graphic design and creative direction for more than 20 years. |

Robert J. Kramer, M.D.
Assistant Medical Director
An accomplished cardiologist, Dr. Kramer who serves as the Assistant Medical Director, joined South Nassau in 1980 and has served as chairman of the hospital's department of medicine since that time. In 1986, he was named Chief of Cardiology for the hospital. Board certified in cardiovascular diseases, Dr. Kramer also is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and sits on the Board of Directors of the National Heart Association. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, he completed his post-doctoral training in cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and School of Medicine. |

John Mertz
Chief Information Officer, Vice President Information Services
As CIO, Mr. Mertz provides the vision and leadership needed to develop and implement strategic information technology (IT) initiatives. He leads the hospital in planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized clinical and business operations and also is responsible for the Information Services and Communications departments. |

Elizabeth Nardone
Vice President, Development
Ms. Nardone is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Development Department and strategic management of the hospital's fund raising initiatives. This includes capital campaigns, individual and corporate giving and major gifts to support the Hospital's short- and long-term plans to meet the healthcare needs of the South Shore communities. She works closely with the President and the Board of Directors to identify fundraising needs of the Hospital and implement programs to address those needs. |

Ruth Ragusa, RN
Vice President, Organizational Effectiveness
As Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness, Ms. Ragusa is responsible for developing the strategies and best practices that enhance and maintain the quality of care and services provided by the Hospital. She oversees performance improvement, risk management, regulatory affairs, patient satisfaction, patient safety and Joint Commission accreditation. Ms. Ragusa is also responsible for a number of clinical services/areas such as Medical Staff Affairs, Pharmacy, Respiratory, Social Work, Performance Improvement and Case Management. |

William Ulrich
Vice President, Administration
Mr. Ulrich oversees the day-to-day functions of the Hospital including the Design, Development and Construction Group, Environmental Services, Safety and Security, Engineering and Bioengineering and played a key role in the Renaissance Project's capital development initative and the North Addition project, an expansive five-story 170,00 square foot facility. |

Joshua Yedvab Vice President, Network Development
As the Vice President of Network Development, Mr. Yedvab is responsible for enhancing relationships with existing physicians and other providers, growing new physician relationships and assisting in the development and implementation of innovative programs, strategies and partnerships. |

Elizabeth Carnevale
Assistant Vice President, Revenue Cycle
Ms. Carnevale brings more than 20 years’ experience to her position as Assistant Vice President of Revenue Cycle, which encompasses responsibility for various disciplines, from patient registration through cash collection, to assure the Hospital is paid correctly for services. This process includes, among other things, insurance verification and authorization, recording of charges, and claims submission. |

Maryann Demeo
Assistant Vice President, Quality and Resource Management
As Assistant Vice President for Quality and Resource Management, Mrs. Demeo works in consort with the VP and Chief Medical Officer in establishing effective systems that improves the quality and safety of patient care and services and ensures compliance with CMS, DOH, Joint Commissions and other regulatory bodies. The AVP monitors and facilitates improvement teams that focus on patient care outcomes and services provided by the organization. In addition she is responsible for Care Management and Social Work functions to assure that continuity of care is provided and required health care services are procured and delivered effectively and efficiently. |

Richard Rosenhagen, MBA, RHIA
Assistant Vice President, Electronic Medical Record, Health Information Management and Clinical Documentation Improvement
Mr. Rosenhagen is responsible for the oversight of the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation. His many years of experience in the Health Information Management profession as a Registered Health Information Administrator bring an awareness of the importance of quality clinical documentation. Having an enterprise-wide ability to collect and manage clinical documentation specific to a patient’s treatment allows the hospital to judiciously use computers to document the quality and outcomes of the care provided. Mr. Rosenhagen served as the Regional Administrator for Health Information Management at Catholic Health Services of Long Island. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from S.U.N.Y. Old Westbury and a master’s degree in executive management from St. Johns University.

Cat Taylor, MBA
Assistant Vice President, Oncology Services
Ms. Taylor is responsible for the full range of oncology services provided through South Nassau’s Cancer Center and the Long Island Gamma Knife Center. Working with the Chief Medical Officer, she plans, markets, and implements all facets of our cancer care program, including radiation oncology, surgical oncology, breast center, GYN oncology, inpatient unit, psychosocial services, cancer screening programs, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accreditation, Cancer Registry, supportive care programs, and cancer facilities. |

Andrew Triolo
Assistant Vice President, Design, Development, Construction
Responsible for the Design, Development & Construction as well as the Property Management Departments for the hospital and all off-site facilities, Mr. Triolo serves as the architectural and administrative liaison for strategic planning and program development. He also oversees integration and coordination of master facilities planning for South Nassau’s integrated health care delivery system. |
