South Nassau Volunteer Awards
They give the gift of their time and talents. On April 9, Volunteer Recognition Day, South Nassau administrators, members of the board of directors and department heads joined representatives from Assem. Harvey Weisenberg’s office to honor the hospital’s more than 350 volunteers for their nearly 55,000 hours of dedicated service in 2013.
The theme of this year’s event, “South Nassau’s priceless treasures,” highlighted the value of the hospital’s volunteers’ numerous contributions.
This year’s prestigious Five-Star Volunteer Award recipient was Elizabeth Wood, of Oceanside. A volunteer since 2006, she initially worked as a messenger and then as a “friendly visitor” before settling down in the Emergency Department and on F-3.
