Medical Oncology/Chemotherapy Services

Hematology and medical oncology services are delivered in the offices of our skilled staff oncologists, who:

  • Manage the delivery of chemotherapy
  • Provide supportive care to patients and their families
  • Direct patients to clinical trials, as appropriate

Radiation Oncology (Oceanside and Valley Stream)

Radiation Oncology is delivered by a dedicated team of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists and clinical radiation nurses. The team uses the most advanced equipment and technology for external beam radiation and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) including Siemens Primus and Oncor linear accelerators equipped with multi-leaf collimators; radiographic and CT simulation and image-based 3D treatment planning. Together with the dedicated breast surgeons, the radiation oncology department offers partial radiation using the innovative Mammosite® technologies. Surgical Oncology (Valley Stream)

Led by some of our area's most respected surgeons, this division provides such specialized treatment services as:

  • Breast surgery for women with both benign and malignant breast tumors
  • Gastrointestinal surgery for gastric cancers, colorectal cancers, hepatobiliary cancers and pancreatic cancers
  • Endocrine system, head and neck cancers

Thoracic Oncology Program

Focused on the treatment of chest malignancies, our skilled surgical team has unparalleled expertise in:

  • Lung cancer, esophageal cancer and mediastinal tumors and thymoma
  • Tumors of the chest wall, as well as malignant mesothelioma, a rare type of cancer resulting from exposure to asbestos
  • Minimally invasive surgical techniques like VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopy surgery), which uses small incisions to reduce pain and speed recovery

Supportive Care Services

Dedicated to helping patients, families - and our communities - live with this devastating disease, we offer a full range of supportive care services through the Cancer Center:
