Your Career at South Nassau

Volunteering

Volunteering at South Nassau can be both satisfying and enriching. No experience is necessary: anyone with a little spare time, an easy smile and a kind heart qualifies.

Whether you have just a few hours to give each day - or each week - you can truly make a difference in someone else's life by joining our:

Hospital Volunteers
(516) 632-3928

Donate a few hours each week visiting patients or assisting in one of our many administrative or clinical areas. Get involved in our Listeners Program, with the Patient Library, Craft Cart or "Talking Books" Program. Volunteering can be fun and rewarding and the opportunities are plentiful. The Hospital recognizes volunteers with special pin awards as they accrue hours and with an annual appreciation luncheon. For details, call the Volunteer Department at

Junior Volunteers
(516) 632-3928

Junior high and high school-aged young adults can volunteer after school, on weekends or during spring and summer breaks. It's not only an excellent opportunity to help others, but also a great way to get a firsthand look at the health care field for those youngsters who may be considering this as a career. Call the Volunteer Department at (516) 632-3928.

Auxiliaries to SNCH

With chapters throughout the South Shore, the Central Council of Auxiliaries' 400-plus volunteers help us reach our fund-raising goals. Their projects include Flower Days, the Tiny Tots Society newborn program and Fingerprinting for Kids project, hospital lobby sales and the Big Sweep Raffle. Meetings are monthly; times and locations vary. For more information or to receive a copy of the Auxiliary Annual Report, call the Office of Development at (516) 377-5360.

The Council

The Council, a group of individuals from all over the South Shore, is a fund-raising arm of the Hospital that also promotes community health education. The Council coordinates the annual Goods, Services & Vacations Auction. Meetings are monthly and locations vary. To find out more, call the Development Office at (516) 377-5360.

PATH Volunteers

The nationally-recognized People Activated Toward Health (PATH) program teaches adults, aged 55 and over, the basics of anatomy, medical terminology, preventative health and first aid in the health system. Graduates can use their new skills as specialized volunteers for Hospital-sponsored vision, amblyopia and blood pressure screening programs and for other Community Medicine projects. For details, call the Department of Community Medicine (516) 377-5333.
