From the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in our Transitional Year Residency Program at Mount Sinai South Nassau.
 
Mount Sinai South Nassau is conveniently located in Oceanside, New York, just east of New York City. We have been providing premium medical care to the South Shore since 1928. Mount Sinai South Nassau is a Level II Trauma Center, with more than 60,000 ER visits yearly. Our hospital was the first on Long Island to provide state-of-the-art treatment options, such as Gamma Knife® and daVinci® robotic surgery. We are continually expanding our campus and our services to deliver better care for our patients and expose our residents to a broad range of pathology and treatment options. Although our hospital is large, we retain the cozy atmosphere of a big family in a small community hospital.

Our program is currently ACGME accredited. We offer a flexible curriculum with three months of elective time which will allow you to personalize the program to support your occupational endeavors. Our program runs in tandem with the ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program, which will expose you to a full spectrum of medicine, including pediatrics, women’s health, sports medicine, and geriatrics, to name just a few.  

You will have the opportunity to work alongside residents and faculty from the other residency programs in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Surgery and Podiatry.
 
What is truly unique about our program is the comradery amongst our residents. In residency, your co-residents become your family and we strive to provide a welcoming atmosphere where residents and faculty enjoy coming to work.
