Living on Long Island

Mount Sinai South Nassau is located on Long Island's South Shore, an area rich in cultural, educational, recreational, residential and shopping facilities.

The primary and secondary schools rank among the nation's finest, and the immediate vicinity offers an assortment of parks, golf courses and tennis courts. Professional sports on Long Island are represented by the New York Mets and Islanders, each of whom play their home games within a half hour's drive of the hospital.

Roosevelt Field, one of the nation's largest shopping complexes, is located about 20 minutes north of the hospital. New York City's many cultural and artistic attractions, including museums, art galleries, theaters and restaurants, are only 30 minutes away by car or railroad. Stretching eastward, and in direct contrast to the cosmopolitan appeal of Manhattan, are miles of sandy beaches. Within easy driving distance of South Nassau are Jones Beach State Park, Fire Island National Seashore and the Hamptons resort area.

Transportation: The Long Island Rail Road covers the entire length of the island, with trains to New York City on a regular schedule. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports are easily reached by car, taxi or airport limousine service.
