Don’t Put Your Health On Hold

We were here for you before COVID, and we’re here for you now. Don’t put off seeking medical care, including elective surgery, in fear of COVID-19. Mount Sinai South Nassau now has dedicated non-COVID patient care areas, including within our Emergency Department. All of our units have undergone a deep cleaning to ensure our patients’ safety, all patients undergoing procedures have had a negative COVID-19 status confirmed prior to admission. In addition to our cleaning and sanitizing efforts, our frontline staff of physicians, nurses, and support personnel are equipped with full Personal Protective Equipment to help halt the spread of infectious diseases.

The entire team at Mount Sinai South Nassau has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and an unprecedented amount of resources to make our hospital safe for our patients, because your health shouldn’t be defined by COVID-19. Don’t put your health on hold. Come to Mount Sinai South Nassau with confidence.

Pre-Procedural COVID-19 Testing

Based on the reduced incidence of COVID-19 in the region, combined with increased vaccination percentages in the population; and in accordance with rules of the State of New York Department of Health, fully vaccinated patients coming to Mount Sinai South Nassau for a surgery or a procedure will no longer automatically be required to undergo pre-procedural COVID-19 testing as of Monday, June 21, 2021.

In lieu of such testing, New York State will accept documented full vaccination coverage (e.g., 2 weeks after the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccination, or 2 weeks after the single dose of the J & J vaccine). Patients may present their New York Excelsior Pass, or, if the patient's COVID-19 vaccination was administered outside New York, alternate proof of COVID-19 vaccination, such as a completed vaccination card.

Patients who cannot provide proof of vaccination must be tested five days in advance of a scheduled procedure/admission, unless they have had documented COVID-19 infection in the preceding 90 days.

Keeping Our Patients Safe

For Mount Sinai South Nassau’s doctors, nurses, and staff, there is nothing more important than the health and safety of our patients. From continual disinfecting to strict distancing measures, our teams have put stringent protections in place to keep all our patients safe.

Throughout our community, conditions still need to be treated, procedures still need to be performed, and screenings still need to be scheduled to prevent disease. So Mount Sinai South Nassau wants to reassure our patients that our trusted clinicians are here and ready to welcome you and your family. From emergency care through routine appointments, your health is too important to put on hold.
