Program Curriculum

All clinical rotations take place at Mount Sinai South Nassau. Residents have their own Continuity Clinic sessions every week, where they see their own Ob and GYN patients and follow them throughout their 4 years of training.  In addition, residents attend outpatient subspecialty office sessions (GYN Oncology, Urogyn, MFM, REI and Pediatric Gynecology).  

Rotations consist of thirteen 4-week blocks. One block in the PGY 2 or PGY 3 year may be used as an elective rotation.
 
PGY 1: OB / GYN / Night Float / Anesthesia / Ultrasound

PGY 2: OB / GYN / Night Float / Maternal Fetal Medicine / GYN Oncology / Urogynecology / REI

PGY 3: OB / GYN / Night Float / Maternal Fetal Medicine / GYN Oncology / Urogynecology

PGY 4: OB / GYN / Night Float / Maternal Fetal Medicine / GYN Oncology / Urogynecology

Outpatient Experience

Resident Continuity Clinic
Beginning in PGY 1 year, each resident spends one half day per week in Continuity Clinic where they manage their own panel of patients under the supervision of our faculty.  

Maternal Fetal Medicine
Beginning in their PGY 1 year, residents rotate through our outpatient MFM offices where they learn basic and advanced ultrasound training, as well as management of high-risk OB patients.

GYN ONC
Beginning in their PGY 2 year, residents rotate through our outpatient GYN Oncology office where they learn how to diagnose and treat patients with a variety of GYN malignancies.  They are able to follow patients throughout their care including participating in their surgical procedures and post-operative care.

Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
During their PGY 2 year, residents rotate through our affiliated outpatient REI office.  They also attend didactic and research sessions at the Mount Sinai Hospital.  

Pediatric Gynecology
Beginning in their PGY 2 year, residents attend our outpatient Pediatric Gynecology office where they learn how to manage pediatric patients under the supervision of our fellowship trained Pediatric Gynecologist.

Mount Sinai South Nassau strictly adheres to ACGME and NY State Duty Hour Guidelines. The night float System period is from Sunday evening to Friday morning, with residents taking call on weekends.  Direct supervision is provided by an attending physician who is available on site 24/7.
