Hospitalists at Mount Sinai South Nassau

As a service to our patients and our physicians, Mount Sinai South Nassau employs a staff of full-time hospitalists to assist with in-hospital care. This allows our physicians to concentrate on seeing patients at their practices, while our hospitalists update and consult with them about their admitted patients. Our hospitalist team is made of primary care physicians who specialize in either family medicine or internal medicine.

About the Director

Haiwen Ma, MD, PhD

Dr. Ma is a board-certified specialist in internal medicine with a PhD in molecular biology. She is a graduate of Shanghai Medical University and completed her postgraduate work in biomedical sciences at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, N.Y. She completed her residency training and internship at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine of Jacobi Medical Center and Einstein Hospital, New York, N.Y. Following her residency, she worked as a hospitalist at Genesee Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., before joining the faculty at University of Rochester Medical Center and working as a hospitalist at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Ma established the hospitalist program at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre in 2004, serving as its director from 2004-2007. In 2007, she brought her experience to Mount Sinai South Nassau and established Mount Sinai South Nassau ’s Hospitalist Program. She is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine.
