Emotional Support and Education After Your Child Is Born

If you feel moody, sad or anxious before or after the birth of your child, you are not alone. These feelings can be a natural part of your body’s response to childbirth. But there’s help to get you past these feelings, and it’s free. As part of the broad base of maternity services at South Nassau Communities Hospital, our staff is proud to offer Circle of Caring, a support group for mothers experiencing sadness, isolation, fear, anxiety or depression during and/or after pregnancy.

This is a free, 12-week self-help/psychoeducational program. Each week, we provide emotional support, education and coping tools to empower women and their families when pregnancy-related changes in mood and/or anxiety exist.

Leading the group are experienced, compassionate, caring maternal-child nurses and social workers. And we encourage “graduates” to become involved as advocates or volunteers to support mothers and families experiencing similar issues.

Contact South Nassau’s Circle of Caring at (516) 377-5400.
