Birthing Your Baby - Questions & Answers

We understand being able to plan is a high priority for our expectant parents. Therefore, we encourage you to review our FAQs about birthing your baby with us at Mount Sinai South Nassau.

Prenatal Classes - Knowledge is Power

The Parent-Child Education program at Mount Sinai South Nassau is here to prepare you for the multiple stages of life — pregnancy, childbirth and beyond! Our In-Person and Online courses help you learn about your baby’s birth, care for your newborn, and provide information regarding breastfeeding, labor, and delivery. They answer a variety of your questions and help you establish a relationship with your health care provider about your decision to give birth at Mount Sinai South Nassau. Our aim is to give you the confidence you need to have a calm and positive birthing experience. Our goal is to provide you with the information you need to make health care decisions that are best for you and your family.

Studies consistently show that those who prepare with evidence based education experience a better outcome and a more satisfying birth. We recommend attending class as of your 20th week of pregnancy and welcome those who wish to attend sooner. There is no refund of the class fee if you birth early. If you cannot make both dates of the scheduled class, exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis to split sessions.

Our interactive, live in-person classes include a printed, full color 70-page comprehensive guide and a free companion app.

The app includes:

  • Essential ad-free information
  • More than 50 videos
  • Tools, checklists, and printouts
  • Donation to a charity for every new account
