Our Services:

The goal of Mount Sinai South Nassau is to bring you and your family the following: outstanding cardiac treatment, outstanding outcomes, outstanding care.

For example, in emergency medicine, the adage "time is muscle" means that delays in treating a heart attack mean a greater chance the heart muscle will be damaged due to lack of oxygen. That’s why “door-to-balloon time” — the time it takes to begin lifesaving balloon angioplasty — is crucial. At Mount Sinai South Nassau, our average door-to-balloon time is about 63 minutes — 27 minutes faster than the 90-minute national benchmark for this procedure.

Cardiovascular services highlights:

  • Mount Sinai South Nassau was the first hospital in New York approved to perform emergency and elective angioplasty (opening up or widening blood vessels that are blocked) without having an open-heart surgical program
  • We were also the first Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory on the south shore of Nassau County to be approved by the New York State Department of Health
  • Our premier electrophysiology (EP) lab is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Echocardiography
