Sue Penque, PhD, RN, CNP
Chief Nursing Officer
Accomplished administrator and nurse Sue Penque, PhD, RN, CNP, is South Nassau Communities Hospital's Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. Dr. Penque, who hails from Long Island, comes to South Nassau most recently from the North Memorial Health Care System in Robbinsdale, Minn., where she served as Chief Nursing Officer of the system.
She began her career as a staff nurse at Syosset (NY) Hospital after earning an RN from Lenox Hill Hospital School of Nursing. She also holds degrees from C.W. Post College and Adelphi University and earned her doctoral degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota. She is a certified adult nurse practitioner.
Dr. Penque is also the recipient of many honors and awards for her work. In addition, she has authored a number of publications and research papers for the advancement of nursing and patient safety.
Here at South Nassau, she is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering quality nursing care to patients in the hospital and ensures that the same superior standards are met throughout our organization, wherever nursing care is delivered. Areas of responsibility include perioperative services, endoscopy, emergency services, cardiac services, including the cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and cardiovascular labs, dialysis services, including the outpatient dialysis center, and all inpatients units.
