An Imperfect World

In a perfect world children would not have serious illnesses or disabilities. They would not have to witness their brother or sister having side effects from chemotherapy or hanging on to life while hooked up to machines and tubes, in and out of hospitals and doctors appointments, undergoing procedure after procedure.

In a perfect world children would never know the turmoil that a family caring for a seriously ill or disabled child, day in and day out, experiences. They would not have to feel the anxiety, the sense of loss, grief, and emotional confusion that can exist when a family goes through this difficult journey.

SIBSPlace is a not-for-profit, free program in Hewlett, New York, for the siblings of seriously ill or disabled children. SIBSPlace helps to make an imperfect world more supportive, more predictable and a happier place for children. This program makes a difference in the lives of children and their families because the need for a place for the well sibling is recognized; and community responds; connected to each other by heart.

Please consider how you can help us to achieve our mission and expand our reach. We strive to improve the lives of siblings we serve, far and wide. Won't you join us on our journey?
