Gait Training Seminar for Amputees
If you or someone you know is a lower-extremity amputee, South Nassau Hospital is sponsoring a life-changing advanced gait training seminar on Saturday, April 27th from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.
Presented by International Prosthetics and Orthotics, led by paralympians Todd Schaffhauser and Dennis Oehler, the seminar will enable participants to identify appropriate stretching and strengthening exercises that can help amputees achieve increased flexibility and strength; demonstrate and teach running gait for above- and below-knee amputees; and educate amputees and health care professionals on sports and recreational opportunities for the disabled.
The seminar will be held in the South Nassau Hospital Conference Center and is free to amputees and their families. CME credits are available for medical and healthcare professionals: five continuing education hours will be offered to physical therapists and physical therapy assistants upon completion of the seminar.
