OR Training Program South Nassau Communities Hospital

OR Residency Program/AORN Periop101

South Nassau Communities Hospital

This program is designed to provide basic didactic perioperative education that will give the novice OR nurse the rationale and theory needed to provide safe patient care. It is intended to be used in conjunction with a clinical preceptorship.

Developed by expert surgical nurse-authors, Periop 101: A Core Curriculum™ is a comprehensive, online education program based on the latest, evidence-based AORN Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices.

The Periop 101 program consists of 25 scripted modules and a final examination for students plus one module for preceptors.

The Periop 101 training program is designed to be completed in sync with the RN orientation timetable of 6 months.  The Periop 101 candidate will attend a didactic program to be presented within an eighty hour time frame.  This also coincides with clinical practice that includes a full time preceptor.
