Magnet Champion Kickoff

What does it mean to be a Magnet Champion?

South Nassau's Magnet Champions have been an integral part of our Magnet Journey. Dedicated RNs represent their department, serving as a liaison to coordinate Magnet education, communicate Magnet exemplars, and empower all staff with Magnet knowledge. The Magnet Champions raise awareness and celebrate nursing excellence throughout our organization. They have been pivotal in working with their colleagues and managers to contribute unit-specific sources of evidence for our Magnet Document. Our Magnet Champions "Soar to New Challenges and Heights" every day!

Magnet Champion Attributes:

  • Role models for excellence in patient care
  • Optimistic and Enthusiastic
  • Fully Engaged as an ambassador for our Magnet Journey
  • Articulate in providing information, answering questions and motivating team members

What Magnet Champions Do:

  • Develop and maintain unit-based Magnet boards
  • Serve as unit-based leader, communicator and educator for Magnet nursing
  • Provide monthly staff updates
  • Attend Magnet Champion meetings
  • Host and participate in Magnet-associated activities and events
  • Collaborate with the Magnet Program Director and Magnet Team Leaders in magnet preparation

Magnet Steering Committee

The Magnet Steering Committee oversees South Nassau's Magnet Journey through shared decision making and shared accountability for the written documentation that substantiates nursing excellence throughout our organization. The Magnet Steering Committee has taken a lead role in planning our Magnet journey and activity timeline.
