Lamantia Named COO, Exec. VP of Administration
South Nassau Communities Hospital announced that Joseph Lamantia has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Lamantia is recognized by hospital and healthcare industry executives for developing and implementing successful financial and service line strategies.
“Throughout his career in healthcare administration, Joe has demonstrated that he is an insightful leader who can formulate concise, targeted strategies for growth that produce hospital enterprise-wide success,” said Joseph A. Quagliata, President & CEO at South Nassau. “He possesses the skills and know-how to ensure that South Nassau sustains its growth and remains the premier healthcare provider of Southern Nassau County.”
In addition to overseeing the efficient operation of the hospital, including the management of the hospital’s profit and loss statement and attainment of budget goals,
Mr. Lamantia will have day-to-day operational oversight of South Nassau’s finance, facilities management and healthcare service lines.

Mr. Lamantia comes to South Nassau from Franklin Hospital, Valley Stream, NY, where he had served as the executive director since 2004. He began his career in healthcare administration in 1992 at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he held several positions within the Department of Finance. In 1997, Mr. Lamantia became a manager for Ernst & Young’s national health care consulting practice. In this capacity, he specialized in revenue cycle, post-merger integration and operational performance improvement initiatives.
He was named associate executive director of finance at Plainview Hospital in 2001, and then in 2002 he was named deputy executive director at Franklin Hospital.
Mr. Lamantia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science from the State University of New York at Cortland and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from Hofstra University. He and his wife Melinda have three children Benjamin, Samantha, and Jonathan, and live in Commack, NY.
