Dr. Lomasky Cited for Service Excellence
South Nassau Communities Hospital has announced that Steven J. Lomasky, MD, is the recipient of its third annual South Nassau Communities Hospital Physician Excellence in Service Award. The award recognizes South Nassau-affiliated physicians who provide outstanding service to patients, families, colleagues and hospital staff.
“I am truly humbled by this award,” said Dr. Lomasky. “I am honored to be a part of the South Shore’s premier health care provider and to work with men and women who are so dedicated to healthcare service excellence.”
Dr. Lomasky, who is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is board-certified in endocrinology and metabolism, practices in Rockville Centre. This year he celebrates his 20th anniversary as a member of South Nassau’s medical staff, which is highlighted by his exemplary leadership and commitment to raising the standards of patient care provided by the hospital and its physicians. Since joining South Nassau in 1988, Dr. Lomasky has served as Chairman of the Medical Library Committee (1995-2000), Treasurer of the Medical Board (1998-2000), Chairman of the Medical Staff Performance Improvement Committee (2000-2002), Vice President of the Medical Staff (2000-2002) and President of the Medical Staff (2002-2004).
Dr. Lomasky has served on numerous professional committees, including Chairman of the Professional Education Committee and Chairman of the Long Island Chapter of America Diabetes Association. A fellow of the American College of Physicians and American Association of Clinical Endcrinologists, Dr. Lomasky is an active member of the Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Active in research and co-author of published studies, Dr. Lomasky has been published in prestigious medical journals, including the Archives of Internal Medicine and the Journal of Surgical Oncology, and he has authored or co-authored abstracts or letters published in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Annals of Internal Medicine and presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Lomasky lives with his family in Merrick and has two children.
Candidates for the Excellence in Service Citation are evaluated on their accessibility, leadership, courtesy, professionalism, staff relations, patient and family relations and communications. Dr. Lomasky was chosen by a committee that is composed of Sheila D’Nodal, MD, Vice President, Ambulatory Services; Carl Atkins, MD, President, Medical Staff; Ms.Gail Still, Director of Physician Services; and Ms. Jan Rosensky, Patient Relations Coordinator.
