South Nassau Receives Inaugural Hospital Award
South Nassau Communities Hospital is the inaugural recipient of the Long Island Business News Healthcare Heroes Hospital Award. The award was presented to South Nassau’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Joseph Lamantia, at the Health Care Heroes Awards 2011 breakfast ceremony.
The award was the fifth significant media honor that South Nassau received in 2011. Previously, South Nassau was voted the Best Hospital on Long Island by readers of The Long Island Press; ranked thirty-third in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals metro area rankings; and named to the Becker's Hospital Review 2011 lists of the "100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare” in the United States and “60 Hospitals with Great Orthopedic Programs.”
"We strive to be the best place to receive healthcare, and we achieve that by putting the patient first in all that we do and by combining clinical excellence and service excellence with teamwork," said Joseph A.Quagliata, South Nassau's president and CEO. “While we are proud to receive this honor, we will not relent -- even for a moment -- in fulfilling our mission to provide high quality, comprehensive and easily accessible healthcare services.”
