South Nassau Names Chair of Anesthesiology
South Nassau Communities Hospital has named Jonathan Singer, MD, chair of the department of anesthesiology. Dr. Singer is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists and has more than 25 years experience in anesthesiology.
“Dr. Singer has established a career that is marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence and leadership in the specialty of anesthesiology. We are confident that his professionalism, clinical acumen and experience in his specialty will help us build on our high standards in the delivery of compassionate, patient-focused healthcare services,” said Linda Efferen, M.D., chief medical officer at South Nassau.
Dr. Singer served in the prestigious capacity of Associate Board Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology from 1989 to 1992. Since 1985, he has provided his services and expertise in anesthesiology to many of the area’s leading hospitals, where he also assumed leadership responsibilities in performance improvement initiatives and on various clinical committees.
He earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1981 and Bachelor of Arts in biology from University of Pennsylvanian in 1977. From 1982 to 1985, Dr. Singer was at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he served as chief medical resident and completed post doctoral training in anesthesia and fellowship training in critical care. Dr. Singer is a resident of Port Washington, NY.
