South Nassau’s 5K Run/Walk & Multi-Cultural Health Fair is One Healthy Way to Spend the Day
It will be “One Healthy Way” to spend the day when South Nassau Communities Hospital holds its 17th Annual “Communities for a Cure” Cancer Awareness 5K Run/Walk & Multi-Cultural Health Fair on Sunday, September 28 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
In addition to the 5K Run/Walk, a Multi-cultural Health Fair will feature over 80 tables with displays from departments of the hospital and community agencies. Free health screenings for cardiac risk factors including cholesterol, Body Mass Index (BMI), and blood pressure will be offered, as well as screening for prostate cancer (PSA). Free bouncer rides for children, complimentary refreshments and entertainment will be offered, and tickets will be sold for a drawing for raffle prizes. The Nassau University Medical Center Mammography Van and NY Blood Services Van will be located on the premises. There is no fee for parking or admission to the Health Fair. Proceeds from the run and raffles will benefit South Nassau’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Pre-registration for the 5K Run/Walk is $20.00 and $5.00 for the Fun Run for children 11 and under. For participants 65 and older who pre-register, the fee is just $10.00. Day-of-race registration is $25.00 for the 5K ($15 for those 65 and older) and $10.00 for the Fun Run.
