Health Care Scholarships Awarded
Each year, South Nassau Hospital recognizes four local high school graduating seniors with the Health Care Scholarship. The award is given to an outstanding student who plans to pursue a career in health care.
Sally Valenti, president of South Nassau's Central Council of Auxilians, is pictured with Jay Wong, valedictorian of Baldwin High School’s class of 2012. Mr. Wong attends Yale University, where he is majoring in biology. He plans to pursue a career in medicine.
Gail Carlin, director of community relations at South Nassau, presents the Health Care Scholarship award to Ciaran Duignan, a graduate of Oceanside High School. He attends SUNY-Buffalo and is pursuing a career in medicine.
G.W. Hewlett High School graduate Perry Goffner is the recipient of South Nassau's health care education award. Mr. Goffner is pursuing a career in medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Presenting the award is high school principal Thomas Russo.
Damian Becker, manager of media relations for South Nassau, presents the health care scholarship to Storm Marshall, a graduate of Southside High School in Rockville Centre. Mr. Marshall, a member of the National Honor Society, completed research projects at SUNY Stony Brook. He attends Duke University and is pursuing a career in medicine.
