Ultrasound

Mount Sinai South Nassau Center for Women's Imaging

Complete Ultrasound Services, Especially for Women

Ultrasound exams, also called sonograms, are painless, fast and especially useful to help your physician diagnosis health issues in many different parts of the body. We also use them to help determine a treatment plan. Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to create an image of an object or tissue, as well as measure its size, shape and consistency — whether it’s solid or filled with fluid, for example. Because it does not use X-rays or other radiation, it is safe for a larger number of patients, including those who are pregnant.

Mount Sinai South Nassau Center for Women's Imaging is proud to offer a range of ultrasound services for the:

  • Pelvis, the part of the body from the hip bones to the thighs
  • Transvaginal, or genital, area
  • Uterus, using “hysterosonography” (ultrasound)
  • Unborn babies, at all levels of development
  • Abdomen, or stomach area
  • Renal, or kidney, area
  • Thyroid glands, in the neck
  • Carotid arteries in the neck (carotid Doppler), to evaluate blood flow, blockages or clots
