South Nassau Family Medicine Staff
Joanne Corley-Barkley has been our Residency Coordinator since 2000, beginning her South Nassau career as a temporary replacement office worker. A mother of eight, she has unsurpassed organizational skills and keeps the complexities of running the program intelligible for everyone else. Corley-Barkley studied theater at Morgan State University in Baltimore and enjoys decorating, painting, gardening and reading.
Pollymae Strodder-Holdson studied liberal arts at CUNY's Queens College, Flushing, before beginning her career in medical administration. She worked at Mercy Medical Center in nearby Rockville Centre and Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York before assuming the responsibilities as Executive Secretary to the Chairman and Administrative Director seven years ago. A mother of four daughters, Strodder-Holdson enjoys sketching and drawing and is a skilled hairstylist for her friends and neighbors.
Silvia Johns, RN
Silvia Johns, RN, completed the associate's program in nursing at Nassau Community College and is now completing her Bachelor of Science in nursing at Molloy College, Rockville Centre. Since her graduation from Nassau 13 years ago, Johns has been on the frontlines of ambulatory nursing in our office, where she is now the Assistant Nurse Manager. As a bilingual nurse, she seeks to make all patients and their families feel welcome and well-cared for, putting our patients at ease and explaining procedures and guiding them through the various referral processes. She has a husband, two cats and a daughter who is pursuing a career in ESL teaching.
Gloria Lopez-Marin, RN
Born in Puerto Rico, Gloria Lopez-Marin, RN, was raised in New York City, where she completed her undergraduate and nursing degrees at CUNY's Hunter College-Bellevue School of Nursing. Prior to joining our team at South Nassau, Lopez-Marin worked as an ambulatory care nurse manager for 27 years at St. Mary's Hospital-Catholic Medical Center and later, at Lutheran Medical Center. She is Patient Care Coordinator for the Family Medicine Center and assists in our implementation of the Patient-Centered Medical Home standards. She expertly works with the clinical practice team, supporting patients throughout the often-complicated referral process and transitions of care.
Precillia Fairman, FNP-BC
A native of Jamaica, West Indies, Precillia Fairman, FNP-BC, earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Riverdale, and her Master of Science in nursing at Pace University, New York. Fairman is board-certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Family Health. Before coming to us, she worked in the Emergency Department at Beth Israel Medical Center in Brooklyn and at Hempstead Main Medical Center, Hempstead, as a designated Women's Health Provider. Fairman plays a vital role in providing continuity of care to our office and often provides clinical backup support to our residents. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Pace University, New York.
Myrlande Gaston, BA, BS-RN, CBC
Our assistant nurse manager, Myrlande Gaston, BA, BS-RN, CBC, completed two bachelor degrees, one in psychology from Long Island University and the second in science from Adelphi University where she graduated the top of her class and was inducted into Sigma Tau, the National Honor Society. Myrlande remains at Adelphi where she is pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing Education, MSEd. With prior years of experience, Myrlande joined us as staff nurse in 2013 and advanced by 2015 to assistant nurse manager at both our Oceanside and Long Beach sites. She is boarded in ambulatory care nursing and additionally certified as a breast feeding counselor. Millie is married and has two sons and a daughter. She enjoys music, jogging, traveling, and obviously continuing education.
Monica Wagner is the Business Office Manager of the Family Medicine Department, the Family Medicine Center, Employee Health Services and Prenatal Program. She works with the Administrative Director to oversee the daily operations and helps to coordinate the scheduling of doctors, staff and patients. She previously worked in an ambulatory surgery setting — in a nursing capacity and managed the medical office operations. She is a graduate of Molloy College, Rockville Center, N.Y., where she was awarded a B.S. in Health Service Leadership.
