The Joint Commission Certification
Knee and Hip Joint Replacement
South Nassau's Long Island Joint Replacement Institute has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™ for its knee and hip joint replacement programs by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. The certification award recognizes our dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the-art standards.
"This achievement is a direct result of an organization-wide commitment to the attaining and maintaining the highest standards in safety, quality and service," said Craig Levitz, MD, chair of orthopedic surgery at South Nassau. "Our patients and the communities we serve can be assured that our commitment to improving and raising our standards is enduring."
A rigorous on-site survey was conducted during February 2012. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated South Nassau for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
"With Joint Commission certification, we are making a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down. Joint Commission accreditation provides us a framework to take our organization to the next level and helps create a culture of excellence," said Joseph Lamantia, COO and Executive Vice President. "Achieving Joint Commission certification in knee and hip joint replacement for our organization is a major step toward maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide."
