The Joint Commission

South Nassau Communities Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. 

Accreditation demonstrates South Nassau’s compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the-art national standards for healthcare quality and safety for its Hospital, Home Care and Behavioral Health services. 

Accreditation by The Joint Commission is part of a continuous process that provides insights for maintaining the highest standards in South Nassau’s daily operations. We are proud to have continuously held full accreditation from The Joint Commission since the inception of the Commission six decades ago. 

An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Since 1951, The Joint Commission has maintained standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care provided by health care organizations, and Joint Commission accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to meeting those standards.
